2017 Small-Batch Gift Guide for Food Lovers

Food gifts are some of my favorite gifts to give, especially ones that are handcrafted and thoughtfully produced. As a lover of food myself, I decided that the best way to put together a gift guide was to make of list of food-related gifts I’d love to receive! I’ve used or experienced almost all of these gift suggestions, and I know many of the makers personally (though none of them have asked me or paid me to suggest their products). These are high quality tools, food items, or experiences that are 100% endorsed by me, free and clear.

Wishing a joyful holiday season to you and yours!

For the Italian food lover:

Maybe a trip to Italy is out of the budget for holiday gifts, but you can make Italian food anywhere! If you’re in Atlanta, give the gift of a pasta-making class (and say hi if you book one of the classes I teach!). Or you can make filling pasta easier with a gorgeous ravioli rolling pin that gives back (100 trees planted for every tree used in production!).

For the chocolate lover:

I love little more than pure, hand-crafted chocolate. No fillers, no preservatives, just carefully sourced cacao in a thoughtfully produced bar of chocolate. Three of my very favorite small-batch chocolate makers are in Atlanta, Asheville, and San Francisco. Fortunately you can order their goods online (for yourself or a friend) if you aren’t one of those places!

For the tea lover:

Some of us prefer tea over coffee–maybe it’s my English roots talking. But like many goods, all tea is not created equally. Here is a selection of teas from some amazing Southeastern producers. Think chocolate-flavored tea made from the byproduct of chocolate making (yay for reducing food waste!), or a special chai blend from some kickass flower farmers in Athens (Georgia), or tea made from the only naturally-caffeinated plant to grow wild in North America. The tea lover in your life will be thrilled!

Xocolatl — Atlanta, GA

Herbal cacao tea – $12

3 Porch Farm — Athens, GA

Organic chai blend – $24 for two bags

Catspring Yaupon — Cat Spring, TX

Loose leaf yaupon tea – $7.95-$12.95
